Hey, I’m Meysam.
I am a Staff Software Engineer at Shopify and a former Amazonian.
By day, I work on large-scale AI and engineering problems (currently leading development on Project Simgym). But at heart, I am a builder who loves getting my hands dirty with code, exploring new architectures, and understanding how things work under the hood.
The Builder's Mindset
Throughout my career, I’ve never been content with just "knowing" a technology—I need to build with it.
I have spent years experimenting with different ideas in my spare time, ranging from a Bitcoin prediction game to developer productivity tools. While these projects were primarily playgrounds for me to learn new stacks and solve interesting problems, they taught me invaluable lessons about product engineering that I couldn't have learned in a large corporate environment alone.
Recently, I shifted my focus. Instead of building in silos, I decided to start building in public.
What is this place?
This blog is my open lab.
My goal here is to document my journey toward mastering software engineering. I am building opinionated, open-source software and sharing the "why" behind every technical decision.
Here, you can expect:
- Open Source Projects: Real code you can use, critique, and fork.
- Architecture Notes: Deep dives into how I structure backend services and systems.
- Honest Learnings: The messy reality of engineering—what worked, what broke, and how I fixed it.
Let’s Connect
I am always happy to chat about tech, system design, or the challenges of building scalable software. You can find me on LinkedIn and Twitter/X.
